So who has heard of Sole?? I feel like maybe I have been living under a rock…never heard of the stuff. I am not a fish eater, not a fan at all…however, I know how good this stuff is for me, so I am always willing to try to “learn” to like it.
Steven picked up some wild caught sole at Whole Foods last week, mainly because it was a white fish and it was cheap…we were willing to give it a shot. For those of you who may not know, the white fish tend to be less “fishy”, so they please the taste buds of someone like me a bit better. They are very mild, and from what I’ve had, quite delicate in texture as well.
And back to the sole. This stuff is GREAT! Finally a fish that I can enjoy that I don’t have to cover with tons of seasonings or choke down in a hurry! Even better, it cooks up quickly because the fillets are thinner than cod, halibut, and salmon. I imagine there is a million ways you could cook this fish, but so far I have only tried one…olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and parsley. Simple and satisfying! The flavor replaces the butter and garlic fish that I am more accustomed to quite wonderfully.
In case you want to know what these funny things look like.
Any of you ever tried sole? Have any good tips to share?

Not real attractive fish at all! lol I can see why the filets would be thinner!
I know, right! Steven and I both laughed pretty hard when we saw that…at least it tastes good!
I’m glad you found some fish that you like! The way that you cooked it sounds delicious.
Me too! I was starting to get worried that the only stuff I would be able to stomach was the jerk salmon! lol
